LoongMala has become a must-visit spot for hot pot enthusiasts due to its dedication to “traditional soup, high-quality ingredients, and an environment that immerses you in genuine Chinese culture.”
The special broth is crafted from a time-honored recipe infused with over 108 types of Sichuan spices and medicinal herbs. Carefully blended with premium dried chilies, Sichuan peppercorns, and authentic Doubanjiang, it is slowly simmered for 12 hours to develop a rich umami profile and that signature numbing sensation—the hallmark of authentic Chongqing style.
Pair the rich flavors with high-quality ingredients such as fresh honeycomb tripe, imported lamb, Australian beef, and king crab for a lasting hot pot experience.
Additionally, guests receive attentive service that complements the dining flow. The staff monitor the broth’s condition for optimal care, recommend ingredients, and provide guidance on how to enjoy the meal more deliciously.
The restaurant features a design inspired by traditional Chinese courtyard architecture, adorned with dragon-themed decorations, historically significant murals, and exquisite motifs, creating a refined ambiance distinct from typical hot pot establishments. I enjoyed lunch at LoongMala Donki Mall Thong Lor.
I chose a soup featuring their signature mala soup, Herbal Pork Bone soup, and Mushroom soup.
Among them, I particularly enjoyed the staff-recommended mala soup.
It was rich, aromatic, and reminded me of authentic hot pot, with the bold fragrance of Sichuan peppercorns and deep chili flavors.
The Herbal Pork Bone soup was smooth with a gentle richness that provided comforting deliciousness.
The Mushroom soup had a strong shiitake flavor, and perfectly complemented the vegetables and seafood. There’s no need to worry even if you’re not very familiar with authentic hot pot.
The staff kindly assist with everything from soup selection to ingredient and dipping sauce combinations.
Another impressive aspect was the sauce bar for choosing dipping sauces.
Though initially overwhelming due to the variety, the staff created their recommended “dipping sauce” for me. It was a balanced flavor of sesame oil, garlic, red chili, oyster sauce, soy sauce, Chinese black vinegar, green onions, and white pepper, which paired wonderfully with the meat.
It seems that each staff member has their own unique original dipping sauce, so asking about their recommendations could be a good idea. The drink menu is also abundant here.
The interior is equipped with private booths and rooms, making it ideal for family meals or gatherings with friends. It’s a place I definitely want to come back to when I crave authentic mala hot pot.
